Cruel. Love.
A Poetic response told from Juliet's Perspective
O Love, you are not so different from Death
Except Death is sometimes kinder.
In the name of love, I have ended my breath
In hope that you would bring us together.
Instead, you took my Romeo away.
I rose with high hope only to find out
upon the cold floor my belovèd laid–
A nightmare without any doubt.
And thus I realized, Love, you are never fair–
the most savage monster of all, in truth
devouring the life of whom I care–
A pain that could never be soothed.
O happy dagger!
Therefore take my life
for I will not stagger
For love, I shall die
O Love, you are not so different from Death
Except Death is sometimes kinder.
In the name of love, I have ended my breath
In hope that you would bring us together.
Instead, you took my Romeo away.
I rose with high hope only to find out
upon the cold floor my belovèd laid–
A nightmare without any doubt.
And thus I realized, Love, you are never fair–
the most savage monster of all, in truth
devouring the life of whom I care–
A pain that could never be soothed.
O happy dagger!
Therefore take my life
for I will not stagger
For love, I shall die
