A Journal response to Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird

A Journal response told from Scout's perspective Dear Diary,   The summer has gone by so fast, too fast, in fact, that there is no time for me to prepare what is coming for me at school. To be honest, I was really looking forward to school until today, the day I’ve been told not to read or write until grade three when I can learn it all over again. Oh joy. It is almost as if the school is not welcoming me to learn. But come to think of it, I guess I did learn something today-- that “school’s different”—just as Jem said— and that Miss Caroline is going to be a pain in the butt. Well, maybe I shouldn’t be so harsh on her, after all, she just came to the town this year and she probably hasn’t been familiar with how things work in Maycomb County.
