What the Flowers Say
What the Flowers Say
A poetic response to "Sound of Hollyhocks" by Hugh Garner

These are not hollyhocks by the way. They are just some random pretty flowers that I thought are suitable for my title. :D (photo credit: Me) |
Hush, hush
young man
broken- hearted as you were
talk to us, the hollyhocks, since we've got good ears
Hush, hush
Don't ever let her get in your way
you have had enough, we know, to the point you swayed
listen to us, the hollyhocks, since we know you best
Hush, hush
Don't you ever fret
Now is the time for you to be brave
The Bitch of Belson would regret
Hush and rest in peace...
Wow~ your poem is amazing XD I like the use of repetition. It allows the poem to run smoothly and fluently. This is epic! :D

Awesome Jessica! I really liked the repetition of the "hush hush" throughout the poem, i think you used that to create the atmosphere of your composition and it suits the perspective of the poem. The flower picture was really nice! XD

Hi Jessica! I really liked reading your poem! It's really nice and I liked how you wrote it through the point of view of the hollyhocks! Great job!

You had an Interesting use of repetition and your ending was dramatic as it stopped the pattern and rhythm of the poem. Good job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a unique it is! Your poem has a value all its own - the repetition of hush hush hush....
